I was browsing for an ideal Valentines Day track, and seeing ELO's "Dont Bring Me Down," immediately had me thinking that this was the right choice for me. It's all in the title! I think that this may well be my 8th consecutive year wherein I've had no lady friend to see the day in with. Oh well there's always nnnnnnnnext year. Famous last words. Too all of those with their special one today - all the best!

Catching this for the first time just a couple days ago was a super pleasant surprise to say the least. Not only is a 60's era slice of French fantastic, but I instantly clocked that the Black Lips version, which I also adore, was now actually a cover version, and for some reason made me like the band all that much more. Kind of like well done for choosing something so different, if that makes and sense at all!?!

I recently came into the most incredible collection of 50's 60's 70's era music, and while it's going to take me literally weeks to get through all of the music, I am going to be throwing up select bits and pieces from time time as we go - starting with this fun little party piece from Heinz & The Wild Boys.

Right folks, been a while hasn't it. Sorry. Xmas holidays and plus I've been pretty ill for a few days... It add's up. But it's back into the music we go, and it's to a track that I myself only heard for the first time today. I only caught a bit of the original track and it's chorus as it played out in a section of the Telstar : The Joe Meek Story DVD that I watched today.

What a cool track this is. I finally played the brilliant / special / amazing / excellent / awesome Fact 085 mix by UK DJ hero : Andrew Weatherall tonight, and just adored the entire set..! So much so that I went and purchased 4 tracks as I was hearing them playing through my system for the very first time. Got a good couple re-re-rewinds (bo' selecta!) thrown in by myself along the way too.

Well it's not December just yet, and I cant say that I'm feeling especially loved up at the moment, though I am a sucker for some sweet female vocals, and Mazzy Star leading lady "Hope Sandoval," delivers just perfectly. A double whammy here to by way of the superb harmonica playing by our lead vocalist combines to make this just the right sort of vibe for my cold and grey NY day indoors. Have a good one yourself, wherever you are in the world...

Keeping things on an upfront tip with this very current new single from Kiwi lass Ladyhawke today. The few tracks that came before this didn't really do all that much for me, though this one has definitely been blowing up the spot down here in SW19.

Ace bit of bass guitar lead rockage for your Sunday evening. Optimo doing as well as ever turning me on to new sounds from both days gone by and some upfront stuff from time to time too. I caught this Comet Gain record off of one of their typically superb mixes that I'd downloaded fresh today from their fairly new Podcast section. Both mixes available through the site are tight as fuck! Get both! But yeah Comet Gain, rock on! LDN represent!

Two thumbs up from our tattoo'd pal in the back of the photo, and a further two thumbs up from my good self for this little French number by Amélie Morin. I get some nice surprises from time to time as I trawl through music on my computer. So much stuff gets skipped over and forgotten about that I at times have to force myself to try and only listen to stuff that I dont recognise or recall at all, just to see whether it's worth keeping or not.

Oh man am I battling to type anything! Could I mention the postal strike going on right now, and achieve a link up that way? Hmmmm... No. I guess I really just wanted to post this song as it's just too awesome for words, though if I'm pressed the as per usual brilliant/love it/excellent descriptions most definitely do apply. Honestly, such joy listening to this...

I caught this on the drive home from work again today. I'd heard it a couple of times before and have found what was a pretty cool track to begin with, has since come along quite nicely even more so on repeated listens. See what you think. I love the "these girls fall like dominos..." lyric, and cant help but smile to myself thinking how far removed from me that line really is. Oh well... please enjoy!

An outing for your ears in the form of something pretty fresh and new today direct from some local London lads down in Camden town. I see now as I browse the web for more info that this particular track has actually been kicking about for a bit of a while now, though I only heard it for the first time on the radio just last night, so it's da nu style as far as I'm concerned and I can safely say that it was love at first listen!

Definitely one of THE highlight tracks of my day out and about the beautiful English countryside yesterday was this superb cover of the much much much loved original by the brilliant Kate Bush. It pretty much capped off a day of new music for me as I was suprisingly put in my place by the altogether more eclectic and varied musical stylings of my lady for the day : Ms Ko.

Not heard a thing from Laura Marling until I'd picked up the Kanye West fronted January 2009 issue of Clash Magazine a few weeks ago. Seen her name in the papers and in my various copies of Q and NME magazine over the past few months, though as yet I'd just not caught anything on the wireless or picked anything up off the blogs... oh well.

Hey well happy 29th birthday to myself for today! I've spent most of my day off at home battling with the idea on what tune I should turn to in the hope of sonically representing the days event, and truth be told I didn't really find much to do the job. I had however been looking forward to posting what is to be the first single from the upcoming album "Junior," by Norwegian duo : Röyksopp.

Am I missing something here? Why are there absolutely zero posts for this tune out on the WWW? With hot new music I do like to "gauge the market," for other posts covering my proposed track of the day, and searches on Hypem and Elbo.ws reveal absolutely zilch!  Plus with all the cross channel airplay it's getting, I really did expect premium coverage. Oh well TSID with the exclusive then... and lawyers knocking at my door...

Yet another of my favourite ever tracks. One of many songs labelled with my all to familiar "my best ever / top 5 ever / most loved ever etc etc...." track descriptions. I do mean it though. Perhaps top 5 could actually mean anything in your top 100, depending on the thinking at the time. Whatever. I remember this song passing me by when I used to hear it on the radio back in the day.
