Been a fair while since we dropped some Disco! on your ass, and so I thought I'd come in with a bit of a biggie in the form this 1984 release dance mix of the classic Shoot Your Shot by Divine. I'm sitting indoors with nothing to do but play some music, and this one has stood out for me as the best of the bunch so far. Hoping your weekend is a little more action packed than mine! Enjoy.

It's a new music double bill for ya'll, as following yesterday's Ou Est Le Swimming Pool post I'm now going to hit you with a little modern Disco! Often times I read about bands working a Disco! influence or supposedly being completely Disco! in sound without actually sounding anything like the real deal. Here however we really do have it good and proper.

Bit of bonus for you readers. TSID are running a two for one deal on Boney M singles this evening, as tonights subject actually seques into another hit Boney M single : Rasputin. 10min and 38secs of aural delights from 1978 for you. Me, I'm all about the Nightflight to Venus with it's next level drumming, that robotic voice, the space flight take-off sounds, the female lyrics, the light but effective power guitar chords and it's all there!

A very random collection pull-out on offer today. I cant say that the tune has much going for it musically, though what it packs in terms of a feel good fun factor certainly makes it a valuable and much played addition to the music collection. A tasty little instrumental with some hip-hop type vocal stabs here and there. Summer music!

Wow I knew there was a lot to say about this legendary Italian, though I've admittedly been caught by surprise at by just how much he really has had a hand in. Besides his own brilliant works, as demonstrated for you here today, he has either produced, collaborated with, or soundtracked the following artists, musicians, films, events etc etc... Donna Summer, Sparks, Top Gun, Phil Oakey, Chaka Khan...

I first came into this record via Optimo's own JD Twitch "Betty Botox Presents...," edit, entitled "Back to the Piano Magic." It is that same edit that I prefer most out of all the multiple versions born from the Lamont Dozier original, but for today it's over to this recording from Richie Haven, which itself dates back to the year of my birth : 1980!

Got another case of just wanting to put up a track that struck a chord with me recently, though at the same time being caught out by not really having anything to add in terms of a story, or lame-o little anecdote, to accompany the music. All I can say that as a kid from the 80's (represent!), this song for some reason brings back a few memories, though none that I can actually recall well, or at all.

I had Obeah's 2007 dubstep banger "Copenhagen Massive," all planned for this evening's post. What put paid to that plan however was this 1984 Disco! classic by real life Sledge family sisters : Sister Sledge. Apologies to the steppa's, but I'm a little overdue on the Disco! front, and this did just sound super super good while driving home through the falling snow along the M25 motorway this evening. So yeah, the Obeah jam gets left for another day...

Not a good track for driving through your busy town or city center, believe me. The car hooter / horn noises scattered through the tune sound very real, and had me and a mate turning our heads for a while when this came on one night. Anyway, you're not going to find too much adventure while driving the TSID disco highway unfortunately.

Time for a Disco! track I think. Tonight it's another Optimo introduced record, and that does it for me in one way. The other is the Spaceship mention. Somehow always a winner when music has something to do with outer space, aliens, space travel and so on... Wish I could give a little more info, though there isn't much about at all.  No albums to link either, so if you want this then get digging! Good luck. Dating back to 1979, meaning this tune is almost pushing 30!

Disco. Not seen on these pages so far, and I feel that in introducing the genre I really should offer something quite special. Step up Chilly, and their excellent cover version of the The Yardbirds song "For Your Love." Truth be told I had no idea of the fact that it even was a cover. It was only as I was looking up a little information, to include with tonights post, that this came to light, and I decided then that it's only right to include the original for you here too.
