Sorry people. I've not had much on the player, or on the car stereo this week, and haven't really been feeling very musical at all! Still I do have a good old list of music ready for posting, though I thought I put 'em on the back-burner for a little while longer and instead smash things up with a bloody massive crowd pleaser instead.

I've had a few half started posts lying around for the last week or so. All uncomplete as they've not yet given me the rush of excitement needed to just immediately type up a little blurb and get the track OUT THERE! Step right up please then will you Mr Thane Russal, who just drops the nuclear rock n' roll bomb! Got a bit messy in the car last night as this one surprised me on my CD player. Good times party music. Set it off! LOUD!

I was browsing for an ideal Valentines Day track, and seeing ELO's "Dont Bring Me Down," immediately had me thinking that this was the right choice for me. It's all in the title! I think that this may well be my 8th consecutive year wherein I've had no lady friend to see the day in with. Oh well there's always nnnnnnnnext year. Famous last words. Too all of those with their special one today - all the best!

Got no link at all with tonights tune of choice. I was just in the feeling for some Punk, and so after a good trawl through what I could offer, I then settled on this tale of first time sex from UK rockers - The Boys. Actually, as I think of it, I did share a great conversation with a mate about his first time this weekend just gone, so there you go. Bushes, mud, dirty jeans... A true romantic. Top job! Enjoy.

I recently came into the most incredible collection of 50's 60's 70's era music, and while it's going to take me literally weeks to get through all of the music, I am going to be throwing up select bits and pieces from time time as we go - starting with this fun little party piece from Heinz & The Wild Boys.

"I am the preacher, with a message for my people..." Seriously. I mean seriously now! Amazing stuff on the up tonight people. I proclaimed to both myself in the car last night, as well as to my lady on the phone a little while ago, that music like this was life changing for me. Now some might think I'm overly stating things just a bit, but no, life changing I tell you...

Right folks, been a while hasn't it. Sorry. Xmas holidays and plus I've been pretty ill for a few days... It add's up. But it's back into the music we go, and it's to a track that I myself only heard for the first time today. I only caught a bit of the original track and it's chorus as it played out in a section of the Telstar : The Joe Meek Story DVD that I watched today.

Just a slightly different slant on the OG 1982 version, though a nice little mix up it is too with additional strange sampled bits laid over here and there, and all in all it makes for a bit of change. And after all, a change is as good as a holiday, or so I believe the saying goes! Talking bollocks now I think.

Man am I enjoying Cowboys International! Certainly the big buzz band 'round my manor right now, thats for sure. Of course as usual this is for me a 2009 discovery, which is a pretty massive 30yrs after the release of their debut record back in 1979. So no memories, no special moments (as yet), and so no stories to tell. All I can say is cheers to Optimo for the band heads up.

Loving this track from UK band Half Man Half Biscuit! It pretty much nails the thinking behind this site, and so has kind of become my TSID anthem. Well certainly for today it has!

I'm a bit of a Pete Doherty fan and have had the pleasure in enjoying the live Babyshambles experience on a number of rather raucous occassions. Today I look to re-live some of those live shows with one of my favourites from the bands many rocking sing-alongs, and one that always seemed to down well with the always enthusiastic audience. A definite Best of British tag from me.

Bit of an unplanned Rambo special 'round TSID.com tonight all. I recalled this long overdue UK made dancehall/reggae smash from 1986 for a start. Linked then via a previous Courtney Melody upload that also mentions Rambo, and is what I believe to be a track made in response to tonights Ackie post. AND THEN I remembered this one of kind version of the Three Little Pigs by New York metal heads Green Jelly.

It has been a bloody age since I last put up a DJ mix, and I seeing as it has been so long I thought I quit messing about and throw down a mix that really is THE BUSINESS. Not only is it mixmaster supremo Erol Alkan as our selecta' (bo!) in session, but the mix is the actual original as recorded by Erol, and is not a shitty radio rip with Pete Tong talking over it and what have you. Clean as you like 2hr long banger.

You know I almost missed (well did miss actually) the 1yr birthday of this fine music blog that we all know and love : This Scene Is Dead! Yes peeps, the 27th of September 2008 saw things kick off for the very first time, and now one year later we've crossed a bit of a milestone really. So yeah a day late, but not too late in my opinion to big up the occasion.

Fresh sounds today in the form of this fine effort by London lads Mumford & Sons. I still find it kind of difficult to factor London into the Mumford & Sons equation as their sound, in my opinion, couldn't be any further from our home city. No complaints at all though, as any departure from the well worn indie sounds that have dominated the airwaves over the latter half of this decade cannot be any more welcomed. Let's have some real musicians please!

A long weekend retrospective write-up and related post from me today, and I've gone with a bit of a well known Trip-Hop classic, as not only did we visit the spiritual home of that particular music movement - Bristol - but we actually capped off one of the best days out that I've personally had in years with a visit to the little coastal town of Portishead! You see the connection?!?!

Now I hadn't actually planned on dropping this Mo-dettes post punk bomb on you this evening, though it was in searching for the release date of the track that I then stumbled upon this super rad Youtube video clip that you see linked below, and I just had to throw it up and share it with you all. Scuzzy 80's style DIY video in full effect. Lovely stuff.

Back with a bit of belter to help ease the pain of having your fav music blog AWOL for the past ten days. Been a bit busy doing absolutely nothing all this time, though have recently picked up a new bicycle which I have big plans to use as the catalyst for the new and improved healthy goal setting & achieving me! Part of that plan is to also get back to posting on da regular, so let's see how that goes...

Re-affirming TSID as one of the best on the net with this 1976 Stiff Records rock and roller from Nick Lowe, who's basically telling the story of my life here with "Heart of The City." On the contrary it's a worthy round of big up's to site regular DeEbO who recently returned from a blinding New York trip having actually found exactly what the track describes. Top job son. Wish me well! Anyway all, do please enjoy todays upload which is aptly tagged with my Best of British tag.

Greetings of the rock persuasion today! Definitely bigging up the Brut as one of the UK's finest bands around right now. Loads of fun to be had in the lyrics of frontman Eddie Argos, and definitely well worth checking out if you're after a good times live show! Todays upload only serves as a taster to what the band delivers, and I urge you all to follow this up with a little digging yourselves.

This is the 2nd of only two tracks I know from Magazine. The first being 1980's "A Song From Under The Floorboards," which is great, and of course todays premium ROCK! feature : Shot By Both Sides! The track was released in 1978 as the very first single by the band, who themselves had formed following lead singer Howard Devoto's departure from another equally ace band : The Buzzcocks!

Well how about this callobartion combo then! US super producer Armand Van Helden working together with UK MC extraordinaire Dizzee Rascal - certainly got me excited as I caught the introduction laid out by Annie Mac on her Radio 1 show last night, and the end result is right on the money too! I actually caught a load of great new music tips towards the end of Pete Tong's show, and around the start of Annie's, as I made my way across the city last night.

Timely link upload! Mind you there's probably a number of other sites out there taking the easy road here, what with the planned G20 protest marches dotted in and about the City of London today. Getting home tonight and turning on the telly, I've not seen much exciting about todays events at all really. Seems like everything more or less went off peacefully, and though I dont support any of their causes I'd still like to have seen a little action on the box.

Todays post is ALL about the video. I dont think that I've have enjoyed the track half as much, had I not heard it for the first time when played through this Youtube clip - yesterday! Credit where credit is due, I have to thank the Better Late Than Never site for the heads up on this one. The Smiley Culture was video linked on their pages, and it's actually the 2nd of my big tunes of 2009 that I can tip my hat to the BLTN crew in appreciation for. Cheers!
