Kinda happy to roll with another little flashback from back in my day. This was initially one of those many many many lost club jams that smash you to pieces on the night, though are then seemingly lost for eternity in a sea of daily new releases, and no way of ever ID'ing the big records that are working your local dancefloor.

"I'm not a nobleman, I am a rastaman, I am the righteous one..." Glorious glorious reggae stylings on the upload today. A fresh add to my music knowledge base, and I've been jamming this one the TSID soundsystem for a good while since. Doubt I'll ever be able to fully explain what this music does to me, and just does to the soul. But for all the reggae fans out there, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Been a while since I dropped a Hip-Hop joint, though this time I thought I'd come correct with the lyrical wickedness in the form of this big 115min 1993 special from Brooklyn based online Hip-Hop radio station : The Rub. DJ Ayres on the wheels of steel for this one. Check out the tracklisting and then get busy. Obviously all tracks featured are 1993 releases. No ad's and no DJ chat.

God damn! I be droppin' crazy ill bombs right here son! One huge as you like dancefloor ROCKER from the baddest of bad bwoy dance styles : Drum & Bass! A simple process really. Thinking it was time to flip da script musically on TSID just quick. I then went on over to the top class Drum & Bass Arena website. Had a look for their current number one selling record. Original Sin - Therapy. Test run it via a Youtube clip. Confirmed : It's fierce!

A little dance injection from your selecta-in-chief for today methinks. I've been boshing out the DJ mixes on the car stereo since my return from NYSee a few days ago, and this dancefloor rocker has shown up on three separate occassions. So why not feature it I thought! Not exactly the most upfront track, as I think this was released around about 2007, though for the casual dance head I'm sure you'll be happy with the choice.

Damn, for such a massive D&B record it surprises me that this is so hard (read - impossible) to find. As you can see I've not provided any purchase links below, as there was just nothing out there. Try as I might, but even I myself had to go illegal for this one! Again I feel that this is a release strictly for the headz, as it doesn't pack any immediate stand out appeal, unless of course you are the type who likes it slow burning with an undercurrent air of menace.

Can I start by saying that I am totally jacking Beat Electric's shit right here. Both the excellent documentary video link below, and todays post track were originally put up on their altogether better music blog. You'll find this and two other similarly excellent tracks on there too. It's definitely a site I recommend you check out and bookmark! Over then to the tune in question. I'm not going to really add much except for that it's hot, it's banging, it's from 1989, and I love it.

Feeling the Sunday vibes with this trip into deepest space in the form of this rather large Dubstep joint from Brighton local - Riskotheque. All haunting atmospherics and chill-out sort of sounds on this one, though it just wouldn't be Dubstep if it didn't come packaged with the scenes trademark menacing BASS, and on that note this one really delivers.

Hey Jim, Jim, just a minute y'all. I want to ask you somethin' I want you to spell somethin' for me Jim. Can you do that? Sure John. But I want you to spell for me New York. I caught a pretty awesome remix of this Candi Staton cover by Florence and The Machine last night on Annie Mac's radio show. Top stuff, and quite a unique little piece from current talk of the town 'The xx,' I thought. Definitely advised that you check it out. But please do not forget the star of todays show!

Bit of an unplanned Rambo special 'round TSID.com tonight all. I recalled this long overdue UK made dancehall/reggae smash from 1986 for a start. Linked then via a previous Courtney Melody upload that also mentions Rambo, and is what I believe to be a track made in response to tonights Ackie post. AND THEN I remembered this one of kind version of the Three Little Pigs by New York metal heads Green Jelly.

Short one from me! We're heading off on a real deep and druggy rumbling bassline tip tonight. Peak time sound, though best advised we keep the lights down low for this one. Dating back to 2006. When all are ready, I throw this switch. Rave on!

Strictly one for the headz this. Some super nice dark and moody D&B to take things back from the more recent upbeat sounds gracing the pages. Got little time for any more of a write-up, as I'm out sharp-ish. That does both of us a favour I reckon. Get busy!

A big thanks out to Tom for his comment on a previous Courtney Melody post that I did. Were it not for him getting involved I'd not have been turned on to this snarling D&B monster which samples Courtney Melody's superb Ninja Mi Ninja cut - originally released in 1986. I kind of mentioned that interaction was my primary goal in the About section of TSID, and well dividends have been paid!! Chuffed to bits with this I am. Proper jump-up D&B to get your weekend started.

A long weekend retrospective write-up and related post from me today, and I've gone with a bit of a well known Trip-Hop classic, as not only did we visit the spiritual home of that particular music movement - Bristol - but we actually capped off one of the best days out that I've personally had in years with a visit to the little coastal town of Portishead! You see the connection?!?!

Big up the dance with this 1969 classic from Lloyd Robinson. Not sure what to say about this 40yr old record, but that it's quite unlike any other reggae tune I've ever heard. Perhaps I've not been digging hard enough, but it just comes across as something so unique with it's mad sounds and awesome rumbling sub bass. And it's also Optimo approved! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmuch love!

If like me you tend to pass over on DJ mixes by artists unknown to you, then make this your one exception. I'm sure through all the dross there are a couple of diamonds out there, though the occassions are quite rare, and I'm not sure how I came into this mix, though it's an example of all that I've mentioned above - a f*ckin' banger basically. A f*ckin D&B banger at that. And it's put together by a pretty smokin' female too. Yes please!

Been waiting to give props to The Streets via these TSID pages for a long while now, and I'm glad I waited it out as I've got something pretty special here for all fans of The Streets in the form of this dubstep mix by the duo Nero. Mike's stuff is good enough on it's own, and the original version is indeed top class, but this rocked it last night for me quite nicely on my South to North London commute, and so had to feature! Hope you'll all enjoy...

Been looking to drop something for the best supporting readers of TSID, namely the D&B heads, and I think this 2006 track from Benny Page does the trick quite nicely. Originally I was chasing another tune from a B.Traits DJ mix from 2007, and although I couldn't quite tie up the track I was after from within the tracklisting-less set, I didn't leave empty handed as this one filled the gap in it's own kind of way. Maximum on the feel good factor here.

"Sublime utilized a genre-blending mash-up style which incorporated elements of dub, reggae, ska, punk rock, improvised dancehall, hip hop, psychedelic rock and acoustic rock...," <- words all nicked from Wikipedia, though it's all true and does the trick in introducing this absolutely ace band of Californian music men.

Bit of random buy for me this was. Literally a case of browsing through the Top Ten sales chart on the Drum & Bass Arena website, going straight in for the number one spot, and hitting the play button. Job done. Ordered! Typically I like to feature the more jump-up style of D&B, though this is liquid-funk little number does the job ooooooooohhh so well. Mixing the more laid back sound with some equally laid back vocals provided by LTJ Bukem's fav vocalist : MC Conrad.

Not got a lot to say about this 2002 D&B banger. I just want to make sure to keep bringing the TSID massive the musical wickedness that you've hopefully come to expect. Drum & Bass legend "Dillinja," behind the controls on this one... er... obviously. Just filling the space innit. As far as live dates go you're in luck! Dillinja's Valve Soundsystem is hitting the road for a series of UK dates across May. All as part of the Valve Summer Slam!

Well I promised a D&B tune, and I thought I go with what is to be the third and, hopefully, final record to have featured in the all too often mentioned DJ Noize 3 Deck Mix, that I posted a few weeks back. Anyway this is a sweet little track, and one that doesn't necessarily fire as much of my other other D&B uploads, though the drone style bass on this what it's all about for me!! Pulled this old DJ Mag magazine covermount cd from 1999 for the rip treatment for you today. It's only a 25min blast, though is packed with some seriously rude 90's steez D&B bass, as well as the trademark scratch effects of these two DJ mix masters. And oh my... the sub bass on the last tune : Species. Murder!
