Kinda happy to roll with another little flashback from back in my day. This was initially one of those many many many lost club jams that smash you to pieces on the night, though are then seemingly lost for eternity in a sea of daily new releases, and no way of ever ID'ing the big records that are working your local dancefloor.

I kept A LOT of people (neighbours) up late as I used to play this at my dads house back in the day. He was happy for me to keep the subs reelin' & a rockin' even when he went off to bed. Back then I was even more into sound that I am I today, and lived every day surround by the wall to wall speakers and sub-woofer sets that I'd pieced together to form my own wall of sound. Glory days. Anyway this is a little trip down memory lane for me then.

Taking a trip with me back to my much loved raving days with this 1996 release proper club classic from back in the day - well my day for sure! I remember all too well hearing this belting out of the biggest set of speaker stacks this then 16yr old young kid had ever seen, let alone heard. Pounding bass! In your face! Whichever musical path I choose to follow, I'll always remember where it all started - thanks for the memories. Certified BOMB!

Very much a top choice track for my Sunday afternoon in.  Originally coming to me via a class act compilation album that was made for me late last year (thanks again ALS), I then again passed on this lovely piece of music to my mother in the form of a special compilation CD of bits and pieces that I thought she might like - which she ended up loving, as any mother would I guess.

Came into this wicked tune last night while chillin' at a mates place watching a bunch of pretty dope snowboarding videos. Usual story of me coming late to the party on the classic jams. A bit of looking into todays tune shows it up to be a bit of a biggie from back in the day, and so forgive me it's a well worn record 'round your way. Down in SW19 it's da nu style! Plus the words "take it easy," sum up my life mantra basically... Much love.

A pretty fresh 1995 release Hip-Hop joint to kick off 2010 proceedings 'round TSID way. I copped this heads-up from another of those top class The History of Hip-Hop mixes, as previously seen in the form of 1993 edition version dropped HERE. This one obviously coming from the 1995 edition,  and was a first listen ever for me and basically I just had to have it. Again all years 1979 - 1999 are covered! Cracking stuff...

With great power comes great responsibility, though I only wish it hadn't taken me this long to remember! Just a quick one from me to add my support to the Rage Against the Machine for Xmas number single cause. I'm not really all that fussed to be honest, though it's fun to see some genuine "power to the people," in action, and that deserves support almost no matter what the cause!

Been a while since I dropped a Hip-Hop joint, though this time I thought I'd come correct with the lyrical wickedness in the form of this big 115min 1993 special from Brooklyn based online Hip-Hop radio station : The Rub. DJ Ayres on the wheels of steel for this one. Check out the tracklisting and then get busy. Obviously all tracks featured are 1993 releases. No ad's and no DJ chat.

What a fantastic track this is. Props to Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell and his Xfm Sunday Service show for the heads up here. Driving home through a dark, cold, wet and windy evening last night I caught a bit of the singers one hour show, and was quite literally blown away by the music I was hearing. Amazing stuff.

We're celebrating a fresh addition to my music collection, and hopefully a fresh addition to yours as well, with this joyous piece by this band North Carolinaian multi-instrumentalists, the Squirrel Nut Zippers! I've battled for a number of days now to come up with any additional creative input to add to the post and our featured track - so I'll leave you with this : download it, it's good! Plus it did receive major MTV and radio airplay on it's release in 1996. Dig it.

Well it's not December just yet, and I cant say that I'm feeling especially loved up at the moment, though I am a sucker for some sweet female vocals, and Mazzy Star leading lady "Hope Sandoval," delivers just perfectly. A double whammy here to by way of the superb harmonica playing by our lead vocalist combines to make this just the right sort of vibe for my cold and grey NY day indoors. Have a good one yourself, wherever you are in the world...

A classic dance jam based site update from NYC for us all with this 1996 Ghetto Zone label release from Detroit based DJ and production hero Aaron Carl. Said to be Aaron's biggest release to date (though I myself think "Dance Naked," to be my personal fav), and what a record it is too. Thanks out to a recently heard random DJ mix for the heads up reminder on this!

Damn, for such a massive D&B record it surprises me that this is so hard (read - impossible) to find. As you can see I've not provided any purchase links below, as there was just nothing out there. Try as I might, but even I myself had to go illegal for this one! Again I feel that this is a release strictly for the headz, as it doesn't pack any immediate stand out appeal, unless of course you are the type who likes it slow burning with an undercurrent air of menace.

I caught a pretty awesome remix of this Candi Staton cover by Florence and The Machine last night on Annie Mac's radio show. Top stuff, and quite a unique little piece from current talk of the town 'The xx,' I thought. Definitely advised that you check it out. But please do not forget the star of todays show!

An Iggy Pop & The Stooges electro cover version tonight people! Those familiar with the stunning 2ManyDJ's compilation As Heard On Radio Soulwax Vol 2 should recognise this instantly. It's definitely where I came to hear, and subsequently fall in love with, this tasty cover by our German duo Dakar & Grinser. Mad to think now that the groundbreaking album was released over 6yrs ago now... Time flying and all that. Anyway enjoy!

Bigger than big club smash from TSID today. We are however taking things back over a decade to the hey-day of my RAVE years, with this tune in particular tearing things up across the year 1998! Admittedly the track itself isn't all that busy, but it doesn't need to be as it's the vocal that sets phasers to STUN. And with us boshing things out almost every Saturday along with the club full of regulars like we did, it didn't take long for this to go on to achieve unanimous ultimate anthem status. Damn! I've been meaning to throw up some Danzig for a good while now, though as they're fairly new to me I don’t really have all that much to share by way of a post type up (a familiar tale!). Yeah basically it wasn't until about 2 or so months back that I finally got to take Danzig further than just being the name on the back of rockers denim jacket on over to a fully fledged music experience. 2009 folks... better late than never maybe?!?!

I pulled this off a compilation album entitled N.F.T.F.H (Not For The Faint Hearted) vol.1 that was put together for me a couple years ago by TSID site regular and supreme North LDN O.G : DeEbO. Rarely do these pages get to see any good old American hardcore (or post-hardcore??), and so I thought it would be a nice mix up for today's upload and post. I unfortunately know bugger all about the band, excepting for the few facts that I've picked up off mates over time.

A long weekend retrospective write-up and related post from me today, and I've gone with a bit of a well known Trip-Hop classic, as not only did we visit the spiritual home of that particular music movement - Bristol - but we actually capped off one of the best days out that I've personally had in years with a visit to the little coastal town of Portishead! You see the connection?!?!

LDN done good on the warm weather front this year! Too hot to even sit in my room and type. So I'm off out to the park, though still had to stop in an present something to sum up the day, as well as drop this classic summer jam. Lazy post. Good post! Going with a dance anthem today, and one we should perhaps all know quite well! Back in time 13yrs ago this takes me. Back to the very beginning of my clubbing days, in what was actually a hotel in a fairly small little village town. Smoke machines, strobe lighting, club soundsystems and house music. All new, all awesome. This track was one of a number of defining moments back in the day, and one that always bring's back many a happy memory.

"Sublime utilized a genre-blending mash-up style which incorporated elements of dub, reggae, ska, punk rock, improvised dancehall, hip hop, psychedelic rock and acoustic rock...," <- words all nicked from Wikipedia, though it's all true and does the trick in introducing this absolutely ace band of Californian music men.

This is sitting pretty fresh on my stereo at the moment! And that's not on the nostalgia tip either, as I only came into hearing this ODB bomb for the first time about a month or so ago! Admittedly I seemed to  recognise parts of the instrumental as bits of music that I may have caught over the TV or elsewhere, though as far as a full listen goes it only took me around 14yrs to get there. TSID bring you da freshest cuts (from 1995). Much fun, and a great video too.

I went out for a few pints and a couple of games of pool last night with some mates. Good times, and made even better by the last minute decision to drive over to Amsterdam for the Easter holiday weekend! Unfortunately what wasn't so good was my much disturbed sleep and subsequent banging hang-over! Both of which quickly put paid to the entire weekends Amsterdam 2009 tour of duty. Not cool...
