Re-affirming TSID as one of the best on the net with this 1976 Stiff Records rock and roller from Nick Lowe, who's basically telling the story of my life here with "Heart of The City." On the contrary it's a worthy round of big up's to site regular DeEbO who recently returned from a blinding New York trip having actually found exactly what the track describes. Top job son. Going with a dance anthem today, and one we should perhaps all know quite well! Back in time 13yrs ago this takes me. Back to the very beginning of my clubbing days, in what was actually a hotel in a fairly small little village town. Smoke machines, strobe lighting, club soundsystems and house music. All new, all awesome. This track was one of a number of defining moments back in the day, and one that always bring's back many a happy memory.

An absolute gem of a track upload today! Definitely up there in my top tracks ever list, and the same could possibly be said for the much referenced Optimo crew, as the track has turned up from time to time across some of their top class (and always much recommended!!) DJ mixes. Not much for me to say about the song except that it's in German, it sounds fantastic, and is about polar bears - hence the pic used today. 

A very random collection pull-out on offer today. I cant say that the tune has much going for it musically, though what it packs in terms of a feel good fun factor certainly makes it a valuable and much played addition to the music collection. A tasty little instrumental with some hip-hop type vocal stabs here and there. Summer music!

Greetings of the rock persuasion today! Definitely bigging up the Brut as one of the UK's finest bands around right now. Loads of fun to be had in the lyrics of frontman Eddie Argos, and definitely well worth checking out if you're after a good times live show! Todays upload only serves as a taster to what the band delivers, and I urge you all to follow this up with a little digging yourselves.

Quite a treat on offer tonight. Well that's my opinion at least. Much thanks and appreciation to the Balanescu Quartet for producing this strings only cover of "The Model," by TSID superheroes Kraftwerk! Consisting of 3 violins and a cello I think... Anyway I dont care much for the words I do type to accompany my posts, though this is one of those times when I do wish that I had some form of learned journalistic touch in accurately describing this masterpiece to the full. Sorry!

Been looking to drop something for the best supporting readers of TSID, namely the D&B heads, and I think this 2006 track from Benny Page does the trick quite nicely. Originally I was chasing another tune from a B.Traits DJ mix from 2007, and although I couldn't quite tie up the track I was after from within the tracklisting-less set, I didn't leave empty handed as this one filled the gap in it's own kind of way. Maximum on the feel good factor here.

Dropping a little 1950's blues for you all on this Saturday morning. The only problem I have is finding some words to go with it, and as I dont have any real memories or knowledge related to building up a decent write up on the record, I'm going to instead recommend an absolutely stellar blog that does combine both angles very very well indeed, and has about the best collection of music on the net that I can think of... Listening to a 2ManyDJ's mix in the car last night reminded of this classic record, and the thought that I needed to get it onto the site ASAP! Released 20yrs ago, this particular track played a leading role in getting the album, from which it came, banned from sale in the United States, as it was thought that the attached Parental Advisory label was not enough to warn listeners of just what it was they could expect to hear. 

Always a fan of something a little bit different, and this is something completely just that. Ninja Tune label artist DJ Food behind the controls on this one, but it's really all about the weird and wonderful spoken word lyrics provided by our man Ken Nordine. Wikipedia said if first but it's true that Ken Nordine is not someone you might recognise by name or by sight, though it's when you hear his voice that the feeling of something familiar becomes apparent. Take a listen and see...

Now this is a tune!! Not in the "lets get this party started," way, but more like the "what the fuckkkkkk," or "never heard anything like this..." kind of way. Caught for the first time by myself as the end record on the pretty awesome On Tour mix album put together by the star breaks DJ : Adam Freeland, back in 2001. A real powerhouse closer I felt.

Some more Optimo based goodness for you all today. It honestly took me soooooooooooooooooo long to find this 1979 release track. A real battle it was, though in the end the internet came correct with this mp3 copy that you'll be hearing today! The recording isn't that great, though is very much in keeping with the quality of the original product.

Wicked & wild, this is rastafari style... Stepping back in time 33yrs to 1976 with this product of Lee "Scratch" Perry's legendary Black Ark studios. I've actually got the album playing in the backround as I type this, and I have to say that it's a hard decision choosing a song from what is a start-to-finish set of quality recordings.

Definitely enjoying this Chew the Fat mix that Foamo put together for, or indeed mixed live at, the club night of the same name : Chew The Fat. Dude drops the funk HARD! Seriously heavy on the rocking bassline dance steez, and I cannot recommend enough. The little dip into dubstep sits perfectly between this tight set of much fun party music.

Another Optimo tagged track upload for you. This of course meaning that it the tune first came to light off of the back of me having heard it for the first time through one of their stunning DJ Mixes, and I'm now getting to share some of the love by passing it on. First of my foreign language uploads, and I dont know about but I couldn't really be bothered with what it is that she's actually saying, as being French it all sounds pretty fantastic regardless.

Legendary Bluesman BB King for you all today. I must start by saying that anyone with any sort of claim towards the appreciation of REAL music should really be getting straight onto the attached Youtube clip. Admittedly it may start a little slow, but come the singing and things really begin to get interesting.  Seriously amazing vocal talents in this true heart and soul performance.

I got a great bit of constructive advice on the running of this website from a mate today. Short and sweet he delivered the following message : "Enough with the dance and hip hop shit, how about some classic rock or folk or something, vary it a bit...." No more, no less. Anyway with that in mind the best I can offer in relation to that comment is this classic psychedelic cut from Tommy James & The Shondells.

Bit of random buy for me this was. Literally a case of browsing through the Top Ten sales chart on the Drum & Bass Arena website, going straight in for the number one spot, and hitting the play button. Job done. Ordered! Typically I like to feature the more jump-up style of D&B, though this is liquid-funk little number does the job ooooooooohhh so well. Mixing the more laid back sound with some equally laid back vocals provided by LTJ Bukem's fav vocalist : MC Conrad.

This is sitting pretty fresh on my stereo at the moment! And that's not on the nostalgia tip either, as I only came into hearing this ODB bomb for the first time about a month or so ago! Admittedly I seemed to  recognise parts of the instrumental as bits of music that I may have caught over the TV or elsewhere, though as far as a full listen goes it only took me around 14yrs to get there. TSID bring you da freshest cuts (from 1995). Much fun, and a great video too.

Another often mentioned Annie Mac Radio 1 show heads up for me today. Ms Mac dropped this as a worldwide exclusive about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and it's looking set to be proven as another very high profile remix for the 20yr old electro-pop songstress, what with having followed in the footsteps of what is quite possibly going to be THE remix of the year - namely one Skream's Let Get Ravey remix of the immense "In For The Kill," as posted on these pages earlier this year. Wishing La Roux all the best. So far so good for her it seems, as she's seemingly all over the intenet, the telly and magazines, and all this way before her album even hits the shelves! Fans can expect the full self titled La Roux album to be out on the 29th of June! Pre-orders via the Amazon link below. Check it! Classic Sasha here folks. Dating back to 2008, this is a 76min snapshot of the mix master playing, as the title suggests, at Space in Ibiza. Now I love my Diplo, Optimo, Erol Alkan, Justice etc etc... party rocking DJ mixes as much as the next man, but I have to say that listening to this in the car on the way home at 2am last night was an absolute treat, and it's reminded me just how great this style of ultra smooth progressive trancey-ish dance can be.

The Horrors new album "Primary Colours," has just been released this week, and by all accounts seems to have come up trumps with the critics and fans alike. I checked out the free "Sea Within a Sea," single that they gave away on their site, and have myself been left pretty excited to hear more of what's in store behind their new sound direction.

Wow I knew there was a lot to say about this legendary Italian, though I've admittedly been caught by surprise at by just how much he really has had a hand in. Besides his own brilliant works, as demonstrated for you here today, he has either produced, collaborated with, or soundtracked the following artists, musicians, films, events etc etc... Donna Summer, Sparks, Top Gun, Phil Oakey, Chaka Khan...
